Marmosets
Marmosets are gumophores - yes really! They gouge holes in tree trunks and feed on the sap and gum they find. They also enjoy fruits and insects - even spiders!
Found in the wild in the rainforests of the upper Amazon basin of South America, they are the world's smallest monkey. Mature marmosets weigh around 150g with small bodies and longer tails, they are social creatures.
Living in small groups - one breeding pair and their offspring - the male assists during the birthing process and helps raise the young.
They are very territorial, marking their territory using adapted scent glands.
