Learning Outside the Classroom Sessions for Schools and Groups

With the integration of the Eco-Schools programme Manor House supports the growing importance of the ‘outdoor classroom’.

Our Education Programme is changing!

During 2012 we are developing a new stategy and we'll be offering a whole new and exciting programme, that engages children and stimulates curiosity, complete with interactive packs and resources, for use at the park, free of charge to school groups who make a firm booking.

Free CD

In the meantime, we've wrapped up our 2010-2011 programme onto a resources CD for teachers: it's packed with lesson plans, worksheets, resources, pre and post-visit activities, photographs, references, mission statements, policies, animal puzzles and games, Anna's blogs, back issues of the in-house journal 'The Beagle', and much more!

The CD is freely available for schools who book visits to the park - ask for a disc to be posted out to you when you make your booking.

Also look out for teacher twilight sessions - coming later this year!

We want to  promote knowledge and understanding of the living world, capture interest, stimulate enquiry and encourage expression through first hand, real experiences of live and endangered animals and the natural environment. The park is the perfect place to observe, question and explore.

Hire a Keeper

One of the best ways to get as much as possible from your school trip is to Hire a Keeper. Kids love these sessions, and we have a special deal for schools - for groups of up to 30 pupils, from £25 per session. Please talk to the main office on 01646 651201 for details and bookings.

Our major theme is 'Connect'

We want our visitors to connect with animals and their environments, connect with natural surroundings, connect with the environment and the serious challenges and threats facing the survival of the planet. We want people to make connections, and understand the inter-connectedness of flora, fauna and world climates or biomes.

Education Professionals

Our team of educators includes qualified teachers and graduates, with specialisms in Environmental Science, Zoology, Nutrition, Palaeobiology and Evolution, Life-long and Skills-based Learning and with first-hand experience in the field. Our programme is delivered by qualified staff - and there is always someone on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Free Visit

If you are thinking of bringing a group to the park you may like to take up the option of a free familiarisation visit in order to understand the layout and philosophy of the park, and to see for yourself what an easy day out a visit to the zoo is. Talk to the Main Office on 01646 651201 to arrange this. Our education team is advised by the Head Keeper and his team who hold specialist qualifications in Animal Management and Applied Biology. Both teams evolve alongside the park’s rolling programme of improvements.

Have Fun!

We want children to enjoy their time at Manor House and learn about the rich biodiversity all around them. To this end we can be flexible on session timing to suit your timetable for the day. Free time is an important aspect of your visit. The 52 acres of organic Pembrokeshire parkland offer an exciting environment for pupils to explore and discover the animal collection and a rich native biodiversity all set within beautiful wooded walkways, outdoor rooms, gardens, lawns and ponds. Additionally there are play areas to the front, rear and side of the Manor House. Our passion for conservation is catching, and we look forward to working with schools and tomorrow’s guardians of all our futures.
