Zebras live in herds. When the herd travels it is usually led by the oldest mare with a stallion bringing up the rear.

Found in African grasslands often in the company of antelope and wildebeest, they are gregarious animals, but fierce too.  A kick from a zebra can kill a predatory lion.

Social groomers, you see them nibbling at one another’s coats.
